Toby-Chan was joking about WW2 ya know.

Any time a normally relatively coherent person such as me makes use of a silly acronym as "OMFG" then it's pretty clear that sarcasm is abound.

But then again, someone unfamiliar with me wouldn't realize that deviance from my normal behavior and 'OMFG' is too common a curse to behold on the interwebs? Maybe my sarcasm would be more clearly read if I used "QOMGWTFBBQ" and added some exclamation points with a bunch of '1's attatched and a few spelled out, because we all know that's still witty.

Maybe I'm just far too wrapped up in fandom jokes; I had that "How many FMA fans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?" joke saved somewhere...

But I know somewhere within the answer to the lightbulb question there was "Five to theorize that the lightbulb is an allegory for World War II."

It's an impossible joke to memorize, mostly because it was ongoing and the answer kept increasing in number due to the additions of numbers of fans being so variable.

How many fma fans does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

"3 to try to fix it with their fangirl alchemy powers, five to theorize that the lightbulb came from across the gate, 8 to theorize that the lightbulb is a homunculus, Five to insist that the lightbulb is an allegory for World War II, Two to claim the lightbulb is really Envy in disguise, and one to write a LightbulbEnvy x Ed yaoi crackfic."

Except it went on for- like ever. But the World War II reference stuck, and often comes up, most often at unexpected times with my younger sister, when we watch it and go "What's that?" and the answer is very often "It's symbolism for World War II!"

.... there was a point in there somewhere...

i'd say Full Metal Alchemist is really about two brothers learning the real life out in the real world.

Undoubtedly. happy.gif There's a bazillion and two things going on in that series. But I agree that it has a lot to do with coming of age.

I like Toby-Chan and her WWII.

When ever I think of WWII, I always hear my freshman history teacher: "Those cute little Japanese people." As his hands are clasped together and he has an evil grin on his face. blink.gif

Haha.

laugh.gif lol

I think the show is about the questions we can try to answer. About the way the world turns and all that mess. The show was about how two brothers learned that they couldn't control the world and grew in character because of that lesson.

It was also about men over the age 400 and a suit of armor with a high voice, but you get the symbolism in that, right? Right? *Crickets*

I think that are more than one things that fma is about.

Indeed , but there`s one prime subject and the others are just secundarys subject.
Like when you read a book for literature, the professor teach you that.

I think the prime could be The consequenses of playing with the unknown or playing with the things that only God has permission to, (here the human transmutation)
This you can watch on the movie too, when that lady tries to go (you know where) but she really doesn`t know how`s the other world. So she is playing with an unknown thig.

Then, You have the Brotherly love, the lost of a loved person (as Trisha), How real life really is, etc ,etc.
