Ummm... that's really quite harsh.

I'm not sure liking rap counts as 'turning out okay' tongue.gif

But, really, i think that hitting kids with a switch or belt is a bit extreme. I sort of hope that you're not serious...

Just read that little list, and . . . well, how do you "sexually discipline" someone? What the heck is "sexual discipline" anyway?

Apparently, asserting authority sexual- i.e., embarassing a child sexually to 'teach them a lesson' or somesuch.

Nah being whooped with belts or switches doesnt mess you up, it does good for you. When i was little i got tired of being whooped so I started to act right. Thats what happened to me and my 2 bros. We havent been whooped in years & it doesnt hurt much. But it does the job to teach you not to be bad.

That's one form. Some parents are sick psychopaths, and sexual discipline is a form of abuse. Not mentioned, but in a true story a girl (she's like 30 now) said that when she was up to 12 her parents would sexually abuse her. The causes would be anything from not making a required grade or doing something bad to losing a sock.

..or does it? As far as I can recall, all those bloody noses never really worked much as any sort of deterrent for me.

You got bloody noses? Why? How? You know what, Mahou, detention (3 every 5 years), spanks, punishments and all those disciplinary actions never worked on me, nor will it ever.

Welcome to the world of individuality. If your getting 3 detentions every 5 years then thats pretty much average..I think. If disciplin doesn't work then hard labour will break you spirit.

I say lower the minimum age for arrest.Seriously if a child doesn't know right from wrong by 5/6 years old then there are some problems.Letting kids off with warnings when they commit crimes is stupid and doesn't help anyone.
Between the ages of 1-4 kids are safe,5-10 kids can be put under house arrest,11+ and say hello to juvie.
Thats Popo's alternative to smacking and discipline.

I think that you're crazy. Yes, people ought to understand the difference between right and wrong, but many don't. Kids under 12 shouldn't be put in juvenile detention. It's not a pleasant place, popo. Perhaps it's not as bad as a real prison, but being sent to jail is really awful. I know someone who went to juvie over the summer in my class, and he hasn't really been the same. It's nasty to do that to people, you welsh loon.

Though, i've never even had a detention, so i can't really speak from experience, but I find stricter-than-necessary punishment incorrigible at all levels.

Kids under 12 shouldn't be doing crimes that would warrent being sent to Juvie. Why the hell would a Ten year old need to break into a house? It's not like they have debts to pay off or drug habbits to pay for. They just do it becasue they're dumb.Any way I said Kids under 11 would get House arrest not Juvie. What so diffrent about a 12 year old and a 11 year old?Not much.

Hey Popo,if your being so tough why not just use Juvie from 5 up?
Because it'll waste space in Juvie and not have the same effect.Kids 10 and under still need discipline but they also need alot of family to help them.

spanking hah!

back when i was growing up we didn't have spanking. I think it was more called a "thrashing". You lucky lil' rascals. It probably would've qualified as child abuse these days =D.

It's necessary to place an arbitrary line somewhere, to say, okay, this person goes to jail, this doesn't. You can't do an 'almost there' or 'oh, he's just past the age' thing depending on the crime or the maturity of the individual.

Kittygirl, this is child abuse, after a fashion. It's a way to try to keep it down (i think...) actually, i suppose it isn't at all. Perhaps we should open a thread for the criminal system? What laws are jsut, unjust, differences between britain and the US, so on and so forth. Would you like to?

CHILD ABUSE!!!! NEED I SAY MORE? This thread is getting a bit random!
Okay, who can name the four types of abuse to children, people? I heard that the emotional scars are worse than the physical scars.

reading some of the threads on here can be considered child abuse.

people dressing up their children in cosplay outfits (either against their will or no choice involved)

there. that's 2 out of the 4 types of child abuse.
