FMA to be honest is quite depressing mellow.gif I guess I was expecting them to get a happy ending. Y'know them being living happily ever after but nooo it was nothing like that sad.gif . Though I still love it because it shows nothing but the truth, which is that some decisions that we make in life have consequences and some of those consequences are pretty harsh. Yep life is NOT a fairytale where u can say ah I wish my life was better and Boom here comes the sweet fairy and makes your wishes come true.

Fruits basket must've been the most depressing anime series...well, no it wasn't depressing, just sad.

Fullmetal Alchemist is depressing too if you think about it.

Of course, my all time favourite depressing story is Rurouni Kenshin OVA...the one where Kenji's parents died in the end...yeah...i bet if i watched it a hundred times continously, I'd be crying blood.

Wolf's Rain. It......is.......so.......DEPRESSING. FMA comes next on the list though.......

But at least FMA has humor.....Wolf's Rain, as much as i loooove it......is just a bit too......down......

Mirage of Blaze. Naoe is one of the most desperate-for-your-love characters I have seen, yet Takaya still didn't want THAT kind of relationship with him. *sniff* I cried at the end. Well, maybe I didn't (I rarely cry) but I seriously felt like crying!!! sad.gif

To be honest, I didn't really find FMA all that sad because, after all, almost everything worked out decently enough in the end. (Sucks to be you, Winry, sorry.)

Eva wasn't as sad for me as all sorts of weirded up. Depression sucks, kids. So does sexual repression.

I have to cast my vote for Grave of the Fireflies. Christ. What a downer.

Oh, yeah, I saw Grave of the Fireflies. I was all, "I spent nearly two hours watching that just so they could
die
?? Not cool." It is a downer.

Perhaps another deppressing anime I've seen is Appleseed, though it kinda sucked for me *too much story, too little time*. Another might be Ghost in the Shell, the last few couple of eppies.

the episodes where nina died and hughes was killed, i balled my eyes out. and the part where al ignores ed thinking his memories might be "artificial" after lab5. even when i was reading the manga online, i started crying when i got to those parts. i also cried when i watched ZatchBell in the earlier episodes. that was when zatch made a mamodo friend and later the other mamodo asked zatch to destroy her book.

I don't watch a lot of depressing animes, but I think that the end of Fullmetal Alchemist was kind of sad. ._.
And... was it the OVA or the movie from Kenshin?
It's the one where Kenshin dies at the very End. It's so sad. T_T
The first title that comes to mind is Evangelion but then again I think that's more of a 'I-want-to-shove-a-fork-in-my-eardrum-because-Shinji-won't-quit-his-whining' feeling than anything.

Gilgamesh was definitely depressing. I might even say it was the most thoroughly depressing title I've ever seen. It was full-blown dreary. I can't recall one cheerful, uplifting, or even hopeful moment from the series.

And personally, I was unusually depressed by some of the events in Trigun.

Blood+ is artistically depressing, but not in an emo way.

'Naruto': Part 1.

Seriously, when Choji, Neji, Kiba, Shikamaru, and Naruto were all fighting against the Sound Five (with Choji and Neji critically wounded after their own, seperate battles so the others could keep going), I got teary-eyed. Gah...reminded me too much of 'Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon': seasons 1, 3, and 5, all of which involved self-sacrifice which always makes me cry. Grah.
