This is great! I could practically organize my Ipod playlists by which characters their songs remind me of!
I agree with a lot of other posts that "Fix You" by Coldplay seems to be fitting for FMA. I see as portraying the brotherly relationship between Ed & Al. (I will try to fix you...) It makes a good EdWin theme too, but either way Ed's voice is singing to me whenever I listen to it. Which is probably why I cry every-time I hear it... T_T Another song that reminds me of Edward is "I'm Still Here" by John Rzeznik (from the Goo Goo Dolls) Here's just a few samples from it so you can understand:
"And how can the world want me to change? They're the ones that stay the same"
"Yeah, the world is still sleepin while I keep on dreaming for me And their words are just whispers and lies that I'll never believe"
Ever since I watched a Roy & Hughes tribute on Youtube to the song "How to Save a Life" by The Fray I always think of them when I hear it on the radio. (And get a little teary too)
Royai is one of my fav pairings so I tend to hear songs about them everywhere, but I do have one that has such fitting lyrics it seems to be made for them. "Let it Rain" by Amanda Marshall will always be their theme to me. Especially when I hear Amanda belt out "Let it rain on me!" Here's just some other bits of the song I find significant.
"It's not a cross, it is a choice. I cannot help but hear his voice."
"Come take my hand. We can walk into the light. And without fear. We can see through the darkest night." This song doesn't have a tribute vid that I can find but here's the song just for kicks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB8m-y7exww

Running Up That Hill by Kate Bush/Placebo (which ever version you prefer.) This song reminds me so much of Ed and Al.
And if I only could, Make a deal with God, And get him to swap our places, Be running up that road, Be running up that hill, Be running up that building. If I only could, oh...
This verse just makes me think of how Ed feels guilty about Al's state.
Tell me, we both matter, don't we?
And this line just makes me think of (in the original anime) the part where Ed is in lab 5 and he says something like, "His life still means something, doesn't it?"
You, *be running up that hill* You and me, *be running up that hill* You and me won't be unhappy.
And finally, this last part reminds me of their promise to get themselves back to normal. After that's done, they'll be happy. The "running up that hill" also makes me think of when they were children running around Resembool happily. : )
This song reminds me of the anger and pain of Winry when she is about to shoot Scar, and to me it seems to be from Ed and Scar's point of view.
It's a really dark, yet calm song.
FITS!!! it's so cool!!!
Edit: Taken out the lyrics. Can we avoid quoting whole songs as it makes the page very long. We also class posts like this as spam, so next time could you either say more or suggest your own song. Thank-you; Chiyo.
Goodbye, Fullmetal Alchemist. Thanks for the memories.

My current favourite is for Edward x Winry (surprise surprise) and it is Set Fire to the Third Bar by Snow Patrol feat Martha Wainwright. I think the lyrics speak for themselves but the line about "flaws in science" really makes it stand out amongst other song.
I find the map and draw a straight line Over rivers, farms, and state lines The distance from 'A' to where you'd be It's only finger-lengths that I see I touch the place where I'd find your face My finger in creases of distant dark places
I hang my coat up in the first bar There is no peace that I've found so far The laughter penetrates my silence As drunken men find flaws in science
Their words mostly noises Ghosts with just voices Your words in my memory Are like music to me
I'm miles from where you are, I lay down on the cold ground I, I pray that something picks me up And sets me down in your warm arms
After I have travelled so far We'd set the fire to the third bar We'd share each other like an island Until exhausted, close our eyelids And dreaming, pick up from The last place we left off Your soft skin is weeping A joy you can't keep in
