Is Walt Disney really just a thief who stole Lion King from Tezuka?

I've had that suspicion ever since I saw The Lion King as a child. I used to read Tezuka in my childhood (but did not watch the animated stuff) and did see similarities once I saw the movie. Looks like someone finally made a page for it. biggrin.gif

My ex used to watch Kimba as a kid and said it was exactly like the Lion king. I never saw it so I can't back it up but the bookstore in Japantown had a shirt with a picture of Kimba and Simba on it that said The Lyin King.

Besides, when's the last time Disney had an orginal idea.

Amen to that. Disney's knocked off a lotta stuff; changed some names, animated differently and somehow produced okay movies without getting sued.

As quoted in "Anime Insider" issue 19, "Hey, don't forget, father of manga Osama Tezuka was inspired by Disney movies..."

Oh, BTW I just noticed that the company is named Tezuka. So I guess maybe Disney did a kind of remake? Who knows? Honestly I don't care, I love Disney Land happy.gif!

In my opinion, Disney has been going downhill. They managed to make several classics, but now they've descended to doing crappy sequels.

Yeah, I noticed that. Suddenly there's a Mulan sequel, Pocahantas, and 50 billion others that we don't need, ya know? (no offense if you liked the Mulan or Pocahantas sequel)

The Pocahontas sequel has been here for several years already (it actually was all that bad, but it still sucked). Everything is coming out with sequels nowadays, and the sequels either ruin the original, or just suck on their own.

The Lion King sequel was the one I disliked the most. The Pocahontas one actually got a laugh or two out of me (like that character with the really really long name; I can say it but I can't spell it). But the last time I saw it was nearly half a decade ago.

Personally, I would've preferred Rolfe over Smith. biggrin.gif
