Y'know what's funny? I didn't like Link to the Past. I thought it was really boring, and way too hard. Although the boring might've been because of the hard. Couldn't get past the insane battering-ram worm thing in the temple where it keeps knocking you through holes in the floor down to lower floors.

Link to the past was bloody amazing, probably my favorite. And yes I found it hard on SNES, because you couldn't save at dungeons, but on GBA, I found it easy, completed it in a day or two lol. Guess my gaming prowess has improved.

WW was good, just the sailing was boring (especially getting triforce pieces) and the proper zelda action was few and far between. Also the final ganondorf fight was quite...rubbish nothing on Ganon from OoT, it explains nothing as well. How did ganondorf return, it messes up the plot which put OoT as a prequel to LtP. Ahh well.

Zelda 2 isn't too bad, give it another shot. It is very hard and different, but is good in it's own way.

Finally Majora's Mask is the equal best Zelda game in my view (with LtP). It features the best characters, involving storyline (more so than OoT), pushing you onwards, the urge to get those kewl new items, and is overall one of the most FUN Zelda games.

Minish cap is damn good by the way, too short, but full of good involving puzzles, very original as well. In fact all of the Gameboy Zelda's have been damn good (cept for LtP which was a remake). I can't wait to see what happens on the DS.....

ummm yeah it is a question... a lot of people don't like Legend of Zelda, and the person that started this topic wanted to get some insight on it, so that he could see if he is going to waste money on it or not

QUOTE(Aqua)
...the sailing was boring.
Ah, see perhaps this was what turned many people off from the game (aside from the aesthetic direction). On the other hand, I really enjoyed the sailing. Many times I wound up miles from my destination, just because I was haing so much fun sailing that I wasn't paying attention to where I was going. But I can see that definitely not being for everyone. It strongly reminded me of one of my favorite books though, so there was that personal influence as well.

As for the chronology of the Zelda games, I was under the impression that, officially, none of the games had any concrete order until Ocarina was followed by Mask (which was really a funky side-story type thing anyway, as I understood it, much like Awakening) and then Wind Waker following after. All the games prior to that seemed to have little to do with each other, as far as a linear sense of development goes.

I'm not a super-hardcore Zelda fan though, so I wouldn't be surprised if I was wrong about this. Still, it seems unlikely that Ocarina and Link to the Past could coexist in the same timeline, unless ocurring several centuris apart, as is suggested by Wind Waker's 'reincarnation' backstory.

And since I'm not totally familiar with it, you'll have to explain exactly why Ganon's exposition in Wind Waker interferes with the established chronolgy. I'm curious about that.

And I wonder how this new game will fit into the scheme, if at all...?

^^ At the end of Ocarina of Time, Ganon gets sealed in the Golden Power world, which is to become the 'Dark World' from Ltp. If you watch the Ltp starting sequence as well, it tells how 7 sages sealed Ganon in the Golden Power world, sound familar to the end of OoT?? Well in WW, for starters it doesn't explain how Ganon returned, and how the heck he received his Ganondorf form again (in Ltp he is still Ganon remember, like the one from OoT). And yes Ltp must be set thousands of years apart from OoT for this to work, I even believe, in an interview with one of the producers of OoT, it is mentioned as a prequel to Ltp, but I'll have to check that up (*digs out old Nintendo magazines wink.gif *)

Also the sailing in WW was good, for a while, I think it was really the triforce search that put me off it though...

Um...I wanted to know what you think.

Anyway,Ghost is right about Wind Waker and Balrog.

As for the name,it's undecided, so anything you hear is just a rumour.People thought Wind Waker was going to be called 'Conductor of the winds'

Well I'm pretty sure the Zelda games don't really have a chronology, as much as a series of cute homages to each other. But maybe you're right, and there is supposed to be a lineage.

What happens at the end of Link to the Past? Couldn't it come in between Ocarina and Wind Waker? The Wind Waker intro says that Ganon came back and Link wasn't around to kick his ass (presumably because he was off in...mask-land). And at the end of Mask...I don't remember what happens, but there's no telling how long he spent there.

Link from 'to the Past is obviously not the same Link, because he has pink hair and is the son of that guy, in the beginning. Though I think it's a strong likelihood that 'to the Past's Link and his dad are descendants of the Hero of Time. But I don't see why this would preclude Wind Waker's events occuring thousands of years down the line. But then; I don't know how 'to the Past ends.

Vrtually, it ends with you killing Ganon and then saving everything (like usual) I can't remember anything else.

Hey it's Ghost's Birthday!

Happy Birtday! [Blue hands a triforce shaped cake over to ghost] laugh.gif

As for whether I ever finished Majora's mask the answer is no. (I got too pissed off at my cartridge when that happened over Thanksgiving so the game has been in hiatus ever since)

I'll probably finish up the game over spring break though (I'll let you know of the creepy factor soon enough) wink.gif
