^I understand.

Watching subtitle takes practices.

It's weird. I'm trilingual and usually watch any drama and animation with subtitles, even if I understand the language. Whenever there's subtitle, I couldn't resist the temptation of reading it. So, it's really hard for me to watch English movies or series without subtitle. I'm having difficult time listening to the talkings. Oh well, I guess I just need more training, which helps me get over with the boring dialogues I wrote for my fanfics.

Stupid rent sucking up all my money. I could be spending all of it on Brotherhood DVDs and more anime junk!

When these latest episodes get on DVD, I really hope Travis and Colleen do commentary on them. I especially want to hear how Travis reacts to this recent development.

I'm hoping Travis, Colleen, Mike, and Laura comment on ep. 19 - that would be awesome. biggrin.gif

Also, when they air ep. 17, I can finally hear Colleen's reply in regards when Riza asks for time off. The way she commented about it was hysterical.

Probably if someone who has the dvds can rip them and post it on youtube or something. I'd do it if I could, but since I have the blu-ray version, it's not happening.

All this talk basically MADE me order the dvds. At least I got 'em for $28, shipping included. smile.gif It'll be cool to hear all this for myself.

Whee! It's the 4th here, so 3 days (well, about two, actually, since it's the end of the 4th) until the festival starts! Are we just going to flood the thread with all our works right away, or should we keep that for the 11th and just have (not-so-)crazy Royai discussions and "hey-look-at-this-link-but-it's-not-mine" 'til then?

I was just in FYE looking at the Brotherhood DVD, and I was considering buying it. But decided that I wanted to save my money for the second part. Now I am kicking myself for doing that. Because now I want to hear the commentaries.

I was actually surprised by how interesting the commentary with Travis et al. was as it really was revealing on just how much they really care about the characters and how much they want to do justice to their Japanese counterparts. It was also nice hearing how much affection the cast has for each other.

Plus, the second part doesn't come out until August so might as well save up between now and then. wink.gif

I've decided. I'm getting a job. biggrin.gif I'm almost a junior in high school, why not? I need money to spend on nerdy otaku things! Like the FMA dvd's, and my blue mix-style headphones I ordered last week. And cell phone charms. And manga. And cosplay. And con tickets. And anime soundtracks. And more manga. XD

I plan to buy the final volume of FMA when it comes out in the U.S. I have just been reading scanlations until now, but I want the final volume to remember all the epicness by.

Well that's always good to hear.
I just need to get these dvds... I don't even know if they're out in the UK yet. I'd hope so. *checks* Oh, yes I can get them and they're quite cheap too! I remember with the first series, it was like 20 for the 4-episode dvds.

Oh wait the first dvd isn't out in the UK till August. sad.gif sad.gif

Admitedly this might be a stupid question, because I've been skimming the last two pages since I want to hear the commentaries first hand, but are there any ideas for the royai day themes yet?

I'm also happy to see that the commentaries are so enjoyable, can't wait to get my copy... in july. *cries at the inhumanity*

I already bought the DVD, because I had a beautiful 40% coupon to Borders XDD It should be arriving on Wednesday, and now I'm even more excited than before, though I'm even MORE excited for August!

I want to get my friends into Brotherhood, but a lot of them are lazies like, "I can't read words!" so I was concerned about Travis' job in the dub, but...

QUOTE (FailToImpress @ Jun 4 2010, 04:03 PM) *
I'd say that Travis is pretty on the money with Roy this time around, I think he realises he's different. Same with Colleen.

Is this true? Because it would be SUCH a relief if he didn't play Roy the same way he did anime!Roy because all they have in common is their hair color, and I was concerned he'd play him like the other stiffer, less sentimental Roy...but if it's true that he has watched some Brotherhood, that's awesome, too, because it's hard to miss the difference between the two characters.

Oh, and I haven't been following these threads for a bit *is lame* so can anyone tell me what we've decided for RoyAi day?

^Yeah, I also believe what FailToImpress says, he does Brotherhood Roy's voice perfectly, and I bet some of that is down to watching it/reading some of the manga. And he's also made it clear in the commentaries that he acknowledges the difference in character. As well as that, I think he's generally improved a lot, (having said that, I liked him to begin with. *shot*)

@brotchen, RoyxRizaFan and others who didn't follow the thread: Royai Day Festival is from June 7-13. (Only 2 days! biggrin.gif) The theme is "Together Until the End". You can find the rules in Causmicfire's post here.

I'd say so. Compared to anime1, his voice sounds a little less deep and commanding (when it isn't needed), a lot more expressive and, well, jovial.
I think it helps with the content of Roy's lines though... they have a lot of influence over tone and personality.
