You know what, I'm actually a little confused... If this is not the original story Arakawa-sensei wrote 10 years ago, then what is this? Was the flying-squirrel only an idea that was soon discarded? (I actually was looking forward to it) Maybe that's the prototype from after she altered the story. And it has her present drawing style, not the one from 9 years ago, so we can presume she finished/redrew it? Anyone knows the truth on this?
Anyway, the die-shaped PS is hilarious, and I like how the main theme remained unchanged - to the point of having the very same line from the last chapter when Arsen is defeated. Interesting how the initial city was divided in two in the serialization, maybe to gain some more time. And poor Rose gained a family but lost the wealth she apparently had in the series. A fun story, although I thank God FMA didn't become a one-shot - it certainly wouldn't have had such a big impact on my life. (do we still have to use the spoiler tags? *shrugs*)
- Goodbye, FMA, please help me find the strength to move on and get stronger, too!! ^^ - If I don't answer your reply, it could be because: 1) I'm too busy to turn on my computer. 2) I got shy, and didn't come back to the discussion. 3) I hate you, and I'd rather ignore you. 4) Your point got me speechless, congratz!

@Anakishi - To be honest, I'm still not sure when this story was written/drawn. I agree with you that judging from the art style, they are more in line with her current style, and I assume this was recently drawn, but not clear on when this story was written. I wish GanGan had made it more clear on this.
Anyway, I enjoyed seeing those "familiar" FMA story bits in this story! Although, I was surprised that Ed killed that guy rather nonchalantly.

I agree that this chapter is recently drawn, judging from the art style. Ed is actually a little shorter *le gasp* if you go back to volume 1... compared to the Prototype chapter. The facial features back then are drawn differently compared to her art style now. Al looks significantly different 10 years ago.

My guess is that the story itself is from 2001 but, since it hasn't been approved by GanGan the way it was at that time, it only remained as a "sketch" and was only finalized now, when it became "the prototype".
That would explain both the similarities with the current line art Arakawa has developed and some story and lines that resemble an older version.
