I came up with this idea yesterday in light of a few things that I saw on Deviant Art.

As you all know, Japan was hit with a massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake and as a result it created a 30 foot Tsunami that wiped out the town of Sendai and many others in the Miyagi Prefecture. Over 3000 people have died and in one town alone 10,000 are still unaccounted for.

What I have in mind, and yes it involved all of you, is to create a book full of everyone's thoughts and feelings about the disaster in Japan. You can include pictures if you'd like just please post them with your letter! Once the book is complete, I will post each page on here so you can see the result before I send it to the Japanese Ambassador Ichiro Fujisaki in Washington DC at the Japanese Embassy.

This is at the most all we can do to show that people are constantly thinking about the well being of the people that are caught up in this disaster.

Feel free to start posting your letters today. The deadline to get your letters in is by April 30th 2011.

Note: It is perfectly okay to submit your letter in English, since being an Embassy established in the USA, English is pretty much a requirement smile.gif

At the end of your letter, please if you can (optional), just post your name (NO LAST NAME) your age, and what country you're from.

Together we can show that people from all over the world can come together to give hope to people facing hard times.

When you're letter is ready, please post it here in the forum. DO NOT post anything other than what you want to have put in the letter collection. If you have any questions, please send me, ScarMySoul a PM. Thanks! smile.gif

Do we just post the letter as a reply on this thread?

Yes, just post your letter here. I will combine them together as I receive them here.

NOTE: If there are any more questions, please send them by PM to ScarMySoul. Thanks smile.gif

To all those affected by the earthquake of March 11th, 2011:

By now, the world has heard the stories of terror and suffering your nation has experienced with the recent earthquake and tsunami. We can see your pain, and, unfortunately, there are even those who can understand it exactly.

However, there have also been stories filled with hope, courage, and compassion. Against incredible odds, it seems that the people of Japan have come together without second thoughts or complaints immediately to do what needs to be done. Even in these dark, uncertain hours, the people of Japan stand as the finest example to those facing any type of disaster. Your strength to go on with life as normally as possible is inspiring, and I'm honored to be able to witness this.

The people of Japan remain in my mind and in my heart, and I continue to wish for a swift return to normalcy.

Katy (age 20)

I hope this is okay...>< I hope it's okay that I addressed it to the whole of Japan; I can't help but think that they're all affected by it, albeit not all of them directly.

To the people of Japan,

For us, the whole situation still seems very surreal, but for the people of Japan it is a damning reality.

I, for one, could never imagine the terror you must feel. Despite this, amidst the horror, there are vast wells of hope and strength that everyone is drawing from. Even through the storm, you are keeping calm and carrying on. And I can assure you that across the world, everyone's hearts are swelling with admiration at your bravery --and the hearts of the people of Japan should definitely be brimming with pride.

You are dealing with a disaster of such magnitude in such a brilliant and exemplary manner, which makes me respect Japan as a country even more. It shows that even at the worst of times, you are still standing as one and fighting together as the strong, resilient nation that you are.

My thoughts and heart are with the whole of Japan in this dark time; and you are certainly not walking alone. Don't give up!

Yours faithfully,
Nicole ( Aged 19)

I may update this post with an picture at a later date if I get the time to do one. I'll definitely try! (And that's a lovely cover, Scar! happy.gif)

I expressed my thoughts as a poem:

"a people of honor"
a poem of thanks for the japanese people from kentucky

honor............you bring honor to yourself
and you bring honor to your people. your stoic acceptance that nature and god will rule your world

you reach out to your neighbor and your country giving it what ever help it may need from you
for you know that you will survive only if they survive with you ...Whole with a hole in your heart and mind

you lie next to your family and friends, sharing what bits of food and water that has been allowed this day
And again you know

you raise your eyes to the sky seeking gods grace. thankful for life, saddened by death. greatful to be among the lucky ones who survived. to rebuild to honor those that no longer will

you are a proud people and you show the world that honor can be found in debris. happiness found in a neighbors smile, faith restored in the tiny hand of a child reaching out to touch you.

God has special things in store for you and your people. for after all you've gone through you know God only gives such a heavy cross to those he knows will raise it high for all to see. a simple sign of triumph.

good luck to all you who suffer in japan. i hope you know that the American people have you in their prayers and wish you all

God's speed,
ROSALIND, (Age 60)

Heres my shot!

To the people of Japan:

Stories of what has happpened to Japan are everywere, TV, internet and many other places. And I here to say that it WILL get better. Right now, fear and terror may be all you feel but, You will get back on you're feet. This will not be the end. Millions people are more than willing to support you. And I am one of them. You are strong, faithful people and I may not be able to even think of the terror and pain you may feel, but I do know this will get better. You are a VERY strong and honorful country. You have been though more than most people. and you still stood tall. And for that, I respect you with all my heart.

Our hearts are with you.
