that's only on tv though. the DVDs are fine, i have to agree the english voice actors do suck just a bit, though. But that's with any anime. the american version is ALWAYS butchered. i wouldn't know about DBZ. that i absolutel REFUSE to watch.

What does that have to do with FMA?
This is not my avatar. It was made by the wonderful Motive Icons and Digik Designs. Now I must run off and destroy some akuma while kicking the crap out of Envy. (Runs off dressed in a Black Order outfit and with a right arm of automail acting like Don Qioute and attacking unsuspecting innocent peoples in the general area.)

I think I'm not so keen on the American voice actors because they make them all sound so....adult. Ed's Japanese and American voice are very different in pitch and character, and I'm afraid to say Paku sounds more like a 15 years old (small for his age) boy then Vic.
Ok, I'm just curious... how do you people who hate Nina's VA feel about Winry's? Me, I'm ambivalent. Sometimes I think she does quite a good job, especially for serious parts, but then when she 'squeals' my ears start hurting, and I get a headache... and how is the Japanese VA?
I did like winry's voice, I thought it was funny when she squealed lol. I do know a few people who would agree with you and say they really find her annoying though.
Me though, and don't think i'm horrible for this (my friends think i'm horrible Lol) i find that Al's voice can be extremely irritating. Don't get me wrong i love Al, he's one of my fave characters, but seriously in the english version, sometimes when he's serious it bugs me. i don't know why i just don't like it.
I think it could be cuz the kid who voice acts as him, bugs me alot too. When i was watching the comentary, everytime he talk i just had the biggest urge to slap him. i don't want to be rude, but some people just bug me like that, for no specific reason. Lol srry
ps. i didn't mind Nina's voice, since i really didn't see her as a character that was very important to the story, i didn't really pay attention to how she sounded.

What the hell are you doing commiting necrophilia in this forum?
Its been dead for a year >:/
Because if you try to make a new one that is slightly similiar to a topic that already exists no matter how many pages back, they will direct your attention to it. The people on this forum must like to recycle. So you might as well post all opinions regading anything in an already made topic...in its according topic.

You guys have to watch the Japanese version of the episodes first... the voice actors are all so great. I didn't even know that Barry was that woman in the japanese version, but in the English version it was SO obvious.
Well of course it's obvious. You had already seen the Japanese version, so you already knew that Barry was that women. As for me, I've only seen the English version, and I had no idea that Barry was that woman. How was I supposed to know Barry was a cross-dresser? We'd never seen his character or heard about him before that episode.

I don't think the voices really have anything to do with figuring out who the "woman" really is. There is sufficient evidence in the dialogue previous to this point to suggest the woman is the serial killer. I mean, you have Ed talking about the possiblity of a truck being used to hide bodies immediately followed by the appearance of this random lady and her invitation for Winry to step inside her refrigerated truck. Tone of voice and choice of actors aside, I think the conclusion the writers are pointing the audience toward is pretty obvious. But I digress.
Since this topic has been reopened, I thought I'd post my two cents. I have just finished the series for the third time (yes, I'm obsessed). The first two were the dub, and the final viewing was in the original language. Honestly, I cannot understand why people dislike the dub. None of the voices were cringe inducing, and I found the vast majority of the acting to be of a superior quality. The claim that the dub lacks emotion just simply isn't true - it is definitely more subtle, but it's there if you listen. Since I understand only a meager bit of the Japanese language and cannot speak it, I'm sure you all will take what I say next with a grain of salt. However, I find the original language track to be a bit over-acted. Not to say that FMA doesn't have intentionally goofy moments, but the English track seems to have a bit more restraint. I also think the word choice in the English version is superior in that it corrects some outright mistakes which exist in the Japanese version.
