...Why would getting blasted into smithereens make them enter the Doors and get back what they lost? I'm missing a step in this logic.

I think the idea that Father's blasted everyone to the Gate is coming from the fact that Father's still powered up with "God" or "Truth" or whatever it was that he managed to get his hands on. I don't think so, though. I think this blast might actually be less powerful than it looks-- he seems to be going out of control. All we know is that it was big, bright, and wrecked Ed's arm.

Man, this is going to be a long wait to see what exactly the Fathernuke did...

First, thank you to HishouBuraiKen and Tombow for translating this chapter (and to Mangastream for releasing the scanlation so early, honestly, I didn't expect it so soon) and to hilary and Kasumisty for bringing spoilers and raws! Your amazing!

@Tombow: I love reading your translations. For some reason glancing at a page and then reading the translation you did provides more information for me than reading scanlations where I cans see the drawings and text simultaneously, especially in chapters which make me confused what actually happened. Maybe it is because you put in explanation notes and take extra care of the sound effects? It feels a little like listening to a radio play but without any sound involved laugh.gif

This chapter left me wondering two things. Is it possible that Scar survives and helps creating new Amestris where people can live in peace, filling it with positive energy? He's wounded and bleeding but if Mei gets to him soon enough (or any other alchemist with a philosopher's stone) he can pull through alive.
And did really Hohenheim plan to die? He seems like he resigned but on the other side had he succeeded crushing Father's container before solar eclipse occured nothing of this would happened and he wouldn't have to shield everyone, Xerxes people included, from Father's blasts.

So Pride's gone stripped of his power and he's a little cute thing, just like his human body was! I'm quite curious what exactly Kimblee did there and I'm excited he got his classy departure.

I enjoyed happy reunion of Izumi and Sig! So much love! Plus it was funny seeing poor Roy being thrown around a lot the last chapters. But better his pride wounded than him being dead. I didn't feel bad seeing Wrath's dead body. He looked so content and Greed looked like he was envious of him for some reason just realised Greed hates him for killing his people; yeah that explains why he didn't widh him happy death

66 pages and I wished there was just one page more so I could see what happens next... or just one panel biggrin.gif I expect Father to be defeated next chapter but how can Al get his body in all this mess?

Haha me too!

One thing, do we know for certain that it's ending at 108? I can't remember if it was actually set in stone or not... because I don't see how everything is going to be wrapped up in 2 chapters, even if they are long.

^As far as I know, it's not certain that 108 is definitely when it's going to end; it's an educated guess using the idea that it will coincide with the ending of the anime. biggrin.gif

I'm not going to get involved in the discussion as I haven't read all of the pages, and I'm too lazy to at the moment. LOL So I'm just going to leave some thoughts.

I really find interesting the fact that Pride has a loyalty to Father, yet the latter doesn't seem to care. Whereas Hohenheim is fervently protecting his son(s) even though he is aware of Ed's hatred of him.

And poor Roy, he not only got pushed away by Izumi, he got faceplanted by Greed. xD Those moments made me laugh.

As for the Roy/Riza reunion- I liked it. I doubt it would be in their nature- especially in the midst of battle-- to get all mushy. They used their own code of communication to ensure that they were each alright. I believe that them knowing that they both can still go on, will maintain their morale.

Just want to throw in my twopence, ignore if it's already been said:

a) The fact that Ed could take over Pride and smash his container like that might mean he could also potentially separate Greed from Ling. Now, there's obviously no evidence of yet that Ling wants this to happen, or whether he will survive till the end anyway.

cool.gif if Ed can turn himself into a PS like that, he could also open the Gates without having to sacrifice anything apart from another bit of his soul. I don't think that's very likely to happen though - just a possibility.

c) Probably already pointed out - now we know who is in the beginning of the flame sequence in the 5th OP - contrast

http://i656.photobucket.com/albums/uu287/k...21h06m04s24.jpg

with

http://mangastream.com/read/fullmetal_alchemist/106-103/35

I knew there were only two people with a fringe like that in the show, and one of them was Ed!

d) I never expected the alchemy of Amestris to actually grow stronger as a consequence of this battle. Badass!

e) I can actually see Hawkeye directing Mustang's flames: remember that he causes the reaction with one hand, and, if I remember well, directs it with his other hand - I wonder if she couldn't just...'aim' him in the right direction? We'll have to wait and see what Roy has in mind. Seeing that now he can do clappy-alchemy, he'll be pretty strong, I'm actually staking my bets on him being the one who delivers the final blow on Hoho.

f) This is probably my favorite chapter to date.

g) Has the death of some if not all of the main cast members become a sort of standard ending for FMA chapters? Amused and intrigued about the outcome.

I'm overwhelmed by this chapter. There is a nice explanation part, cool action, a cliffhanger, the last appearance of my favourite character (Crimson Alchemist, you'll be missed. At least he kept his aplomb and coherence till the very last) and as much as I hate Pride I felt a bit of pity for him. I hope he can reunite with Mrs. Bradley and live lika a normal kid.

Edit: I also wrote this on the onemanga forum, thinking about the chapter with a cooler mind.

I think it's about a year now that I have this feeling, that this manga is going to end for real. A part of me is happy because I want to know how it ends, but... I began following the scans here on OneManga with chapter 64, just before the monthly uploading started. It's been more than three years, now it's an habit for me to wait the new chapter with excitement and a bit of anxiety. It's sad to think that, soon, it will be over. I never loved any other manga, anime, comic, book or tv series as much as FMA, it feels like a tiny but significant portion of my world will be missing forever.

Like people have said before, I think that Roy's alchemy requires a far greater level of precision than simply someone telling him where to direct the flame. There's the intensity, range and direction of flames to consider, and I think that it would be far too difficult to even attempt it. You wouldn't shoot a gun with your eyes closed, even if someone told you where to aim. Plus, the very idea of Riza helping Roy in this manner is the most predictable (hey, we've all thought of it).

I imagine that flame alchemy is pretty hard to master in the first place, and sight is the greatest tool for it. There was a reason he lost his sight (albeit maybe unfair), and that was probably it.

Yes, that was sort of the basis that I was drawing from for my question. Mostly, I'm wondering that if they were to get sent to the gate with Truth stuck where he is, what would happen.

It's really going to be a long wait (maybe because of exams this wait didn't seem that long). Interested to see what comes next, now the guys have to figure out how to take down Father and quick.

Due to the cancellation of the end of FMA, Kasumisty must think of new signature.

It may take a while.

No, not epic enough.

It should be something like, "Colonel, aim 32.3 degree Northeast, 23.5 meters from here, 43.5 degree above ground level with 55.8% fire power."

HAH epic! I'd love to see that =P Even as a little gag before all the real action starts.

Loreley - Totally know what you mean. We'll probably all be wandering around in blind confusion and denial for awhile. For a couple more months (who knows, maybe more...) we can live in tremulous peace... o.O

As far as speculations of Roy's plan...
What if there's some way to combine his alchemy with her sharpshooting?
Riza aims her gun, Roy adds alchemical power to the bullet?

Just throwing out wild guesses now.
