My overall impression is that the episode did convey all the necessary information to move the plot along, but there were little bits here and there I would have appreciated them keeping. They did shuffle around some things at the beginning to save time, it seems. Also, I found it strange that they would have the episode stop before the end of chapter 11, but when I consider all the action in therest of the chapter and in the one after it, it makes sense to leave the next episode open for all of that. A decent episode, though it felt rushed, it was a bit smoother than some previous episodes.

I think that this anime is getting better with the pacing; it doesn't feel quite as rushed as earlier episodes. It still has room to sort of settle down, but hopefully that will come when FMA Brotherhood really branches off from the first anime. Overall I liked this episode though. It did what it was supposed to do. I'm looking forward to next week smile.gif

It was a decent episode, nothing too special, with okay pacing. Amrstrong's visual gags made me laugh a lot, along with Schiezka's (man, I wish she had a bigger role in the manga.) It looked as if there was less shading overall in this episode, but none of the characters looked completely horrible. If only the nitpickers complaining about Schiezka's slightly alternating cheekbone levels and criticizing the hilarious automail blurb from the 2nd episode would shut up.

My only real complaint with the episode is the OST. They overuse a ton of the tracks, and about half of them are instrumental versions of the other half, anyways.

I'm pretty biased towards Michiru Oshima. :/

Overall I liked this episode. The pacing was good, it didn’t feel rushed. There were lots of comic scenes, but they were okay and fun for me.

As for the new characters: I liked Sheska better here, than in the first series. She was a bit annoying for me that time, but now she’s more loveable. smile.gif Her voice was okay, too.
It was good to see Denny and Maria again, but I didn’t really like Denny’s new voice.

Romi Paku’s voice as Ed was excellent in this episode, too. It was soo funny when he realized that he called himself small. biggrin.gif
Oh, and I really liked his conversation with Al in the dark.

And next week we’ll see Barry! biggrin.gif He had a much important role in the manga, I liked his character.
And it looks like from the preview that we’ll have the Roy-Hughes telephone call, too, when Hughes tells Roy he should get a wife. biggrin.gif I so loved that scene.
I’m looking forward to the next episode.

I agree! That part sounded so adorable. XD Romi Paku sure knows how to do her job. <3

Although I'm not all that thrilled to see the same scenes from the first anime over again, I have to say there were quite a bit of scenes I loved. biggrin.gif The humour scenes (in manga spirit, of course!) were as good as always.
I also loved the part when they went to Sheska's house.. everyone else had to crawl inside with their backs against the wall, while Ed just walked in, hands held in his pockets. (gotta love these small references! XD )
and the all-of-a-sudden 'freaking out' scene when they studied Marcoh's research. It came so sudden that it really made me laugh. XD

I kind of liked how Hughes mentioned Tucker and how Ed's reacted to it.. a good reminder that it's not just something that could be forgotten after one angsty episode. ^^ (sadly, many animes seem to go that way, luckily FMA doesn't. )

Can't wait to see how they do the battle scenes in the next episode! The first anime had some brilliant animating, I hope this one has them, too. smile.gif

I agree. Denny's voice did not fit his character very well. His voice sounded far too old.

When it comes to pace and animation, that was one of the worst episodes so far. I cannot watch it without frowning at every scene - the animation was so bad it literally looked like doodled on rush. (though scene with a fan was a bit better and watchable - why don't draw rest of the episode like this?) Meh. Pace was better than in episode 2, but they artificially put a lot of material, cutting out interesting scenes. The 5th Lab could be with no harm placed in the next one.

But I must say that voices, especially Paku's and Kugumiya's ones, were brilliant, I like Brosh's voice. And I really loved the scenes with: learning the truth (Ed was covering his mouth with a glove and so did his voice sound), with leaving Al outside ("I didn't choose this size!") and with Ed admitting he is small - he was squirming XD

What else... I liked looking at fan <3 (be my husband! *bricked*), I DIDN'T LIKE the voice during Scieszka's eyecatcher! I hated it! It sounded horrible! HORRIBLE, DO YOU HEAR ME? ...okay, okay, I will be quiet now. I liked how Ed placed his automail on his forehead (and how his eyes were glistening when he wanted to ask Al the question ;; - I cannot wait to see the scene in a hospital and how hurt Ed looked then). Scieszka looked and acted cuuute. And sexy when in a skirt~ And I noticed the lion~ But wonder why they placed it now...

EDIT: And they mentioned Flamel~

Due to the cancellation of the end of FMA, Kasumisty must think of new signature.

It may take a while.

Yeah, the animation wasn't the best in this episode. Let's hope that the quality will improve when the story starts to differ from the first series. I think they just want to finish the episodes that were the same in anime-1 quickly, then they will put more work into new ones.

Oh, and I missed the scene about Roy's alchemy code. It'll be important later, so they should have mentioned it.

Pretty good episode. I for one didn't notice any lesser quality animation-wise. The first half of episode 4 was way, way worse. I was actually impressed by the animation in some of the scenes in this ep, in particular the spinning fan (yes, I'm serious. A fan. I know, it's weird. But it moved so smoothly biggrin.gif ) and the short Lab 5 sequence.

I agree with Kasumisty and Michiyo- about the animation...I was disappointed with it this episode. In the first couple episodes I thought it was wonderful but I haven't been nearly as impressed lately. I hope that's just related to the faster pacing and that once things settle down the artwork will look better smile.gif

I agree that the animation art wasn't the best at times, but it was still a really good episode because it stuck to the manga so closely. People are complaining about the rushed feeling but for some reason it doesn't bother me as much...the old anime changed some events to create filler material, so one chapter could last a whole episode.

Though I do hope they slow down a little bit later on and pay more attention to the art. I want Ling and Mei-chan to look nice in their anime versions. tongue.gif

EDIT: I just rewatched episodes 18 and 19 of the old anime to compare to this new episode. Episode 7 was definitely better. The fan scene was so much better, and the part where Ed cracks the code is more intense.

Actually, I've got a feeling that the fan was made in 3D.. it looked very.. computer-graphic-ish, to me. o.o But I don't know. It could have been also hand drawn with amazing artists that put their whole soul into it - animating the fan. XD

Anyways, that was one of my favourite scenes as well.

I agree that the fan looked awesome compared to the rest of the episode.
I did like this episode though! The comic parts were so funny! Like when Denny asked Al why he wears armor, I loved how both brothers said "It's a hobby". LOL
I loved the parts with Sheska. I wish she will be in more scenes.
I also loved how Ed acted after admitting he was small. XD
Oh, the truth about the PS. That scene was fantastic.
The pacing was a little fast, but not really noticeable.

I can't WAIT til the next episode!! YAY!!! Barry!!!!
