*Episode Preview from FMA-2 official JP site: (Translation by Tombow, episode title is from official English sub on Funimation.com) Episode 6: "Road of Hope" To repair Ed's broken automail, Ed and Al head for their hometown of Resembool, accompanied by Armstrong. On the way, while they rest at one of the train stations, Armstrong catches a sight of a man, someone he knew from the past. His name is Dr. Marcoh. He used to belong to the Amestris Army, where he conducted research to apply Alchemy for the Medical use. But, after the Ishval War he disappeared suddenly from the Army, and has been missing since. Ed and the company visit Marcoh's place where Ed learns of a shocking fact that during his days with the Amestris Army, Marcoh was researching the way to make the Philosopher's Stone, under the order of the Army.

Honestly I think they are saving the burning house scene for another episode. I guess I can't say which one because spoilers but for those who read the manga think Vol. 5 and pocket watch. And if that's true I don't think it's a bad idea because it will add more to the revelation of that scene. Not to mention the burning house scene is in the opening.
Anyways not a bad episode. Like others I am disappointed at things they cut but the episode still worked and flowed well without those scenes. I also didn't think it felt rushed which is what I feared.
Loved that Edwin addition so cute. And I also was happy they kept the Ed with his stomach exposed scene (very important to me).
edit: Actually I just re-watched parts of the episode and I am pretty sure they do mention that Ed & Al burned down their house (well you can see Ed standing by the rubble of his house).
