First of all, thank you Levive and the one who uploaded this in the first place. The whole song is very catchy, but for me, it gets a little too chaotic somewhere in the middle, around the solo (and the solo itself). My favorite parts are that riffs that are, unfortunately, only at the beginning and ending of the song (and ending is cut a bit: <). Overally, a good ending. IMO better than the previous one and breaks the convention of slow endings. This one really suits FMA.

EDIT: Upon hearing the song for the second time, I find it very nice. Only parts that ticks me off are that high pitched ones.

....*puts it on the loop*

...*wanders into the thread*

A friend of mine who lurks on these forums, ah... persuaded me to post on this thread because I made an attempt to translate Lapis Philosophorum the other day. I took Latin in high school for two years, and the last time I'd ever touched my Latin books was three years ago, but I did my best with translating this song because it was my favourite off of the soundtrack and because I myself was really curious to see what it was about.

Lapis philosophorum lapis ruber lapis quantus sacrificium vis caputo felicitas
Stone of philosophers, stone of red, stone of immeasurable sacrifice, see the beginning of happiness

Debes sapio debes ibi multa miseria tua retro calamitatis habes saputo felicitas
You, who ought to be wise, ought to be there to accept the multitude of suffering in your unfortunate past to discover happiness

Ubi es inpedis terra e tempus anteactus
Where are you, trapped land from the past
sapies eo quam erant cadeveris infinitatis
You, who are wise, prepare for how they endlessly died

Debes sapio debes ibi multa miseria tua retro calamitatis habes saputo felicitas
You, who ought to be wise, ought to be there to accept the multitude of suffering in your unfortunate past to discover happiness

Ubi es inpedis terra e tempus anteactus
Where are you, trapped land from the past
sapies eo quam erant cadeveris infinitatis
You, who are wise, prepare for how they endlessly died

Specta mortuus specta si denuo desiderium
See the dead, see if it renews your desires
Sapies habebis tueri sanguinem brachi pedis rubus
You, who are wise, who has seen the red blood of arm and leg
Lapis philosophorum lapis ruber affecto quam res...?
Stone of philosophers, stone of red, how many more things will you affect...?

Now, I'll admit I had a lot of trouble translating this. There are multiple meanings for a lot of verbs, and I had to puzzle out what the rest of the words meant before I could settle down upon one meaning. In several instances, whoever wrote these lyrics isn't following a proper grammar structure, not to mention "brachi pedis" literally translates to "arm foot" and "brachi" isn't even the proper word for "arm" in Latin.

"Sapies" essentially translates to "wise", but in the context it's being used it translates to "wise man" or "philosopher". I opted to translate it as "he who is wise" to make it sound more formal to suit the tone of the rest of the song, and because "philosophers" as a word was already used with "philosophorum".

Worst parts to translate were "inpedis terra" and "debes ibi multa...felicitas". That last phrase especially caused me a hell of a lot of grief.

And for the record, to sound at least up-to-date on this topic, I really like the new opening and ending songs, but I wish the ending had less stills and more action. xD

Thank you very much, and you're welcome!

I might translate "Trisha's Lullaby" too, but at a later date. The frustration in this translation is still too fresh in my mind. xD

Thank you, Backsteel, thank you very much for translating it. Had a little Latin in high school but I would be never able to put it together so it makes sense! You're awesome!

Forgot to thank Levive for bringing full ED song ohmy.gif Thank you as well! I guess this song os something you just get used to. I loved Tsunaida Te immediately, the first time I saw the ED (loved the song, the ED however.... was a little still to my liking). Shunkan Sentimental is... don't know what to say. It's a good thing the song's structured into more parts, have to listen more closely to create an opinion.

Thanks heavens for 'Edit' button, you wouldn't believe how many typos I tend to find after posting.

Just to make it 'even' to Period - Shunkan Sentimental PV here. This time I see some references to... PV for Hologram. No, really, I'm serious.

Thank you!

IMO there's nothing special in this PV. No comparison to the Period one.

Well, the girls are pretty.

LOVE the OP and ED. love the tattoo scene!!! Riza is smokin'. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
anybody realised? in the OP, realised that Al's armor hair is so short (because of the incident with Buccaneer.) but at the 'many pepople shows up' scene just before the Reff, Al's armor hair back to be LONG again!!! hahaha....

@shanryelric - I moved your post to FMA:Brotherhood OP vid discussion thread. I know your post also contains discussion on the ED vid, but I can not divide your post into two parts and move each part onto the corresponding thread. Hence, if you would like, please repost the part about the ED vid to FMA:Brotherhood ED vid discussion thread. Thank you!

Actually, if you look at the sticker in the top corner of the pic of Roy and Ed, I got it at Kinokuniya Bookstore - which is about a 15min. bus ride from my work. So, all I really paid was for the cd itself and sales tax (which was waived since I have a discount card with them).
