Hi, I'm new and I safely can say here that I'm against yaoi in any form and find it disturbing and being a heterosexual male don't find even yuri appealing. I hate hentai and I don't like the see characters I love being disrespected and shown in that way unless it's tasteful at least. I don't find any logica in any of these couplings especially snice I seen alot of anime and there are relationships I can see happening. I don't hate gay people or characters, if the character mean't for a character to be gay and implied that way. Arkawa has shown what Ed and Roy are into in her manga and homosexuality is not part of it. Roy clearly like girls and is into Riza. Ed is your typical shounen main character that seem to have some good self-control and shown to like Winry(I'm not saying this because I think Winry is one of my anime crushes that come and go like with other female characters). I think Ed probably control himself because he wouldn't want to think perverted thoughts of his childhood friend and the girl he likes/loves. I hate to admit that if I was in Ed place and Winry in her revealing tanktop was working on me while I'm in my boxers like Ed, I may have to take a cold shower after that. Only Arkawa knows what goes on in that teenage boy while puberty is hitting him. We only got to see Winry's view on Edward growing up, maybe we'll get to see Edward noticing Winry that way as well. Maybe he already has considering how he denies too much as Riza notice.

^ I completley agree, except for things like been a hetro male, 'cause im a girl XD but yeah in general you hit the nail on the head, I find yaoi pairings to be quite sickerning, if a character is designed to be that way then fine, but i hate fans manipulating characters like that.

I apologize forsaken love, I do have conservative view based on Christianity however I am against extreme conservatives who preached hate and gay bashing. There's a balance in both views but this is a fullmetal alchemist board, not discussing issues like that.

Full-fledged Alchemist, well I watched a bunch of anime and the thing is, each lead female role or supporting character has fans and also their own group of haters. I love Kamiya Kaoru from Rurouni Kenshin and is for her relationship with Kenshin and I love Tomoe as well. Kaoru has alot of hate from Kenshin fans and I seen both sides defending their view and well each it's own.

In fullmetal, I aw a post about General Major Armstrong hate and well I thought most hate of female character come from more obvious reasons like wanting her male love for themselves or in another ship like Ed/Rose or yaoi. Everyone has their reasons why they don't like a charater. I know some Ling haters and I'm sure there those who don't like Ed as a character.

^ Lol im totally against gay bashing! I know gay people, I love them their amazing fun to be with, I wouldn't ever judge anyone on their sexuality! I just don't like fan-based yaoi XD and stuff thats actually written as yaoi I don't read. To be fair I only like cannon pairings anyway, if theres no support from the story I don't like them, but I love them if the story supports it, which is why i love edwin but despise edxroy because it goes against the writers intentions.

I agree with you. I like Kamatari from Rurouni Kenshin as a character who's so gay and in love with Shishio despite Shishio love Yumi.

The funny thing is that there are yaoi couplings for every form of fiction. I am into comic books and you wouldn't believe seeing people who like SpiderxGoblin(Peter Parker and Harry Osborn) despite both character were married(I perfered Peter being married to Mj right now but Marvel are jerks and retcon it with the deal of the devil crap so there be more "story possiblities" and there Captain america x Ironman, Wolverine x Cyclops(just cause they like the same redhead Jean and rivals in some reason). Damnit, all the character I describe have love interest who are female.

All for the love of Ishbal, Batman and Robin(age gap probably too snice d*** Grayson was pre teen and Bruce alot older) before the days of modern manga. that was probably the first homo shipping that even cause controversy which change Batman to a more campy feel so they can remove the accustations. It's a complicated, they even throw in some love interest for them to avoid that.

I don't go around looking for these but I do hear that from message boards and I do tend to be very careful when approaching sites like deviantart. I would go look for Edwin fanart and I always have one hand cover the computer screen until I know it's safe to see it without running into any shounen-ai crap.

the only gay character in fullmetal I can think of is that mechanic that Winry work with in Rush Valley, forgot his name and that's because Arkawa intended that way. You see in with face cream and a nightie and he look so obviously gay.

I have nothing, absolutely nothing against yaoi laugh.gif know why? because I LOVE IT! I prefer shounen-ai, generally, but yaoi is completely fine by me smile.gif I am heterosexual woman and I do date heterosexual men but gay pairings are just something I love and canīt live without. for me, gay couples are incredibly hot! and like I always say, donīt like, donīt watch... I am not watching yuri either, simply because I am not interested.

I donīt like if people judge someone based on the fact, that she or he enjoy watching yaoi/yuri. I tolerate all people, their tastes and opinions.... and I expect them to do the same wink.gif

And not too often, but every now and then, some things simply speak for themselves."

Can someone clear this up for me? What's the difference between shounen-ai and yaoi? (I thought they were the same thing...huh.gif)

Anyway, I agree with most other people's posts, I support canon pairings (like EdxWin and Royai) so yaoi pairings only bother me if they screw up the obvious couples.

Its just disturbing. It doesn't make me mad or anything. If they are just couples fans made up themselves, then I don't get to mad about it, unless the author and artist says otherwise, then it isn't a problem. Even if certain characters are gay, it doesn't matter to me anyways. I don't watch that kinda of stuff anyways. But overall, it's just disturbing.

With Yuri, it's different. If I was a boy I would probably have something more to say about that.

I guess it's the fan girls, to I guess.

I don't watch yaoi because I just don't like watching gay people, sorry. I am not homophobic but I am a hetero and just don't have to watch it. Also, yaoi manga characters are wimpy girly randoms (I know many yaoi fangirls and I just can't stand them crying about how awesome those guys are; they are not) and yaoi fnaficiton is absolute nonsense (anyone still laughing at EdXAl or RoyXHughes?).

Also, I don't hate yaoi watchers. I just disagree with them. But obsessive fangirls are annoying AS HELL.

basically, yeah. shounen-ai is more about looks, touches, hugs, sometimes kisses... sometimes itīs not even the real relationship between the characters, especially if itīs light shounen-ai. characters just care about each other very deeply and so on.... thatīs why I prefer shounen-ai. itīs more about what they feel, how much they like each other.... itīs nice.

yaoi itīs about sex. you can actually see the act in yaoi anime and they donīt necesseraly have to have a plot. sometimes itīs just porn and I have to admit that just porn isnīt very satisfying for me. Even in yaoi I prefer ones like Haru wo Daiteia where there is actually a plot.

about the pairing like royxed... I like reading fanfiction about it and I think thatīs okey since I donīt want them to be actually together in anime or manga. I like the pairings royxriza and edxwinry in anime and manga but I donīt see why wouldnīt it be okey to like the pairings like royxed if we take them completely fictional. I get that some people donīt like it but itīs not like itīs everywhere and most authors put warnings to their fics, so donīt like, donīt read... like I said, I enjoy reading even about the slash pairings from fma. again I prefer if itīs about their relationship, some angst maybe, not sex... smile.gif
