Hey, I taught myself how to use GIMP over the process of...oh, half a year? About that much. XD If anyone needs help relating to mostly ANYTHING about this software, I can probably offer some advice. It's a great piece of freeware; it's got a lot of options and is just as good as Photoshop if you can get used to it.

Sorry, Tombow for beating you XD

Thank you for help. =D
I really appreciate it, I really do.
I'm checking out that GIMP, and it has a lot of features. So it took you a half a year to get all of it he? Then it'll take me a year. T^T
But I'll try, and it's something. I really love you all. =D

Just one thing: how do you draw lines from one point to another. Like in Paint the curved line.

If you're talking about paths in GIMP, I have no idea how to use them XD

Noted and understood for future reference. Though to be perfectly frank, the quote said no files are to be uploaded, and a link is not an upload. Also just in case, does this prohibition also include conversation on the topic of said materials and/or verbal explanations of how to acquire them?

Stop whining and searching for loopholes; just use PM.

@Mudkipblader - For painting and drawing tips, you can ask on Drawing technique Q&A thread, which is a sister thread of this, and in Fanart subforum. biggrin.gif

Oh, and, if GIMP is too vast and intimidating for now, and if you like little more simpler program, you can try Serif PhotoPlus 6.0.
It's free and you can Google it to get many sites to download it from.
It's a limited program, but it's like a little step up from Paint (but you can do much more with it than Paint) and if you are used to the Paint, this one is probably easy to learn how to use it. smile.gif

You make GIFs in ImageReady, not Photoshop. ^^

Or for all the GIMP users, you have to download a special video editor for GIMP...which I forget the name of, but it shouldn't be too hard to find.

Anyone who needs help for that can PM me =O

Here's a quick little tutorial I wrote up for Hyo last year on how to make GIFs.

First grab this nifty program so you can take screenshots which can be found here:

http://paul.glagla.free.fr/imagegrab_en.htm - Click on the purple button

You'll find out that there's no need to install it and you can "uninstall" it by just simply deleting it.

Now to use ImageGrab, browse and find a file you want to take screencaps of. Play it, get it to the part you want, pause it for a sec and click the little alarm clock thingie. Pull on the drop down boxes and change to a snapshot every 3 frames and click the little switch to start and end your little photoshoot. You're pictures will be saved in My Pictures by default so get them out of there and start cropping, etc etc. Do what you want to the pictures. I find it easier if you just layer them on top of each other in the way the animation is supposed to go and crop, resize from there. When you're content, switch modes over to ImageReady

If your animation palette isn't showing go to Windows animation palette. Then take your photoshop file with all the layers and create as many frames as you have on the palette and set them all to .1 seconds unless it's text which is then preferably showing for at least a second or so.

On each layer of the animation, click on the eyeballs on your layers palette to show or not show a different frame each time, don't forget to go in order! It's a stupid mistake but I did it a few times when I wasn't paying attention.

When you think you're done, preview it by clicking the play button on your animation palette. If something isn't right, fix it and view it again.

Finally, if you're content, go to file ---> Save OPTIMIZED As. It's important it's optimized or it won't even work as a GIF image. Upload onto Photobucket or whatever you use for forums, etc.

Hope that was understandable and happy avatar making!

How do u get a signature, please help me

@Soiltary_alchemist14 - If you want someone to make your signature, we have a a list of sig makers on our board.. Go down the list, and check out the kind of sigs each sig makers made, and pick one sig maker whose style you like, then post on the sig shop thread of that sig maker and ask him/ner to make a sig for you. If you have some picture you want to be used for your sig, include in your post, and tell as much details on how you like it made. maybe you can read posts of other poaple making sig request, so that you know how to make request post also.
Hope you'll get a nice sig made for you!! biggrin.gif

For some nice FMA pics you might get some inspiration by visiting our FMA Image Gallery. biggrin.gif

If you need to know how to add signature to your post, that's explained on 2nd post on this page ..scroll down to "How do I add pic(s) to my signature?" smile.gif

And, if you get more questions, you can post on Question thread, or since you are still a newcomer, you can go back to Newcomers thread and ask our "welcome" hosts also. biggrin.gif

I just bought Adobe photoshop CS 8.0, and I am trying to preform an Idea that I had in mind, putting the Japanese character 鬼 in a dark background, I searched for the information I needed on the internet, all that is left now is, how can I insert a background with an image of my choice?
