My mother-tongue is French, and I lived in Boston, USA for two years when I was a child, which makes me bilingual. I also learnt German at school, but I haven't spoken or written in German since I started university.

I am supposed to be speaking fluently english and french, as I have the double american-french nationality, but oddly I could never had my english as right as my french - maybe because I only learnt english with friends the few times I went to LA when I was a kid... I still have a chaotic grammar and a huge lack of vocabular, but I understand it without any problems, except when it's someone with a spanish accent speaking to me on the phone.
Oddly enough, I had two years of spanish, two years of italian, and I now can read and understand those languages ; I can't speak it, nor can I write it, except if a weird mix of french-italian-spanish-latin is acceptable to the one who hears me ... I still won't be able to tell many things like that though. Maybe (no, surely) the five years of latin helped, also. I have no problem understanding the rules but I can't grasp it, it's like I'm handicaped, it's sad. I can alsor understand and read german, but that's normal as I had seven years of school on this. I'll try to learn it when I can, I'm sure it'll come easily if I put myself to work (which I never did ...).
And that's all for now ; I love languages and I will try to learn as many as possible but I doubt it will come fast ... I'm just too lazy to do it properly ... ah well.

English - my first language. Heh. German - second language; apparently, I would speak a mixture of German and English when I learned how to talk as a toddler, probably because my dad only spoke to me in German. Heh. Still having trouble learning it, though. Japanese - very little; I just pick up a few words every now and then. Mexican - grah...hate that language to bits. Finnish - like Japanese, I know very little Finnish. Heh. Latin - harder to learn than German.
