ETA: Now that the new OP/ED for FMA: Brotherhood anime have been announced, closing this thread.
Please use new FMA:Brotherhood OP/ED/OST discussion thread. smile.gif

Who do you hope will do the scores and theme songs?
In the case that this new anime is an alternate production from the first, chances are there will be considerable differences in the soundtrack. (No 'Bratja'. Bawwww!)
If they don't re-hire Ooshima Michiru to do the score, what other composers/directors/artists would you want to hear for our new soundtrack?
Kajiura Yuki (Noir, .//hack) tends to compose really awesome soundtracks for series that are quite 'meh' otherwise, so given a more shiny series to work with, the results could be great. In a series such as FMA where the musical score is just icing on the cake, it might be fun to add a little oomph to the score. But not quite as oomphy as Yoko Kanno (since her compositions are perhaps a little too classy and varied, and she tends to work on projects where the music is an integral part of the story.)

Any ideas of bands you'd like to hear for doing the Opening and Ending themes?

Wow, I forgot all about opening and ending themes for the new series!
I don't know enough about Japanese artists to make an educated guess or choice as to who may compose a theme so I'll leave that to the others. smile.gif

Bratja was a amazing theme for FMA, I don't know if anything new will top it. :/

Mitsumune Nobuyoshi. He made the music for the first Negima!. Take a listen:

Truth
Gokai
Black Magic (my personal favorite)
Magical Battle ~Ma-Ji-Na-I~

Though Yoko Kanno was amazing with Arjuna, and Yuki Kajiura's .hack// music was amazing as well.

I'm quite sure Ooshima will be rehired.

As for the opening themes, I have a suspicion a new theme from L'Arc~en~Ciel will come about (and cue a hundred new fangirls who have never heard a Larku song before being all "they're my new favorite band!" -__-) Although I would like to see something from some different artists. The first FMA was pretty good about getting some big names in Japan to do the themes (Porno Graffiti, Larku, Crystal Kay, etc.) Granted not ALL were but there was enough.

Maybe an ending theme by BoA? That's one of the only names I can think of right now who would at least fit with the previous ending theme singers.

Shame Ali Project music doesn't really suit FMA. A theme by them is always epic.

^It would be great if FMA was more...Ali-ish.

OP and ED themes. Maybe T.M. Revolution or UVERworld for an OP... and maybe someone like Chitose Hajime or Angela Aki for an ED.

Oh, after browsing through Gendou's request list, I spotted 'Promised Land' by L'Arc~en~Ciel as 'FMA OP 5'. Now, I haven't the slightest if this is an OVA OP, but it might be the OP for season 2.

It's not. It's the track that came with "Lost Heaven" or whatever the song they did for the movie when they released it as a single.

I've had that song for over a year now actually. :x

Ah, I see, I'm not a big fan of L'Arc~en~Ciel.

I can't think of anybody that would compose a better score for FMA than Oshima Michiru. Her music didn't distract attention too much from the scenes, but added an extra feeling to them. Also, by themselves, the soundtrack pieces are very good to listen to. I couldn't stop myself from downloading nearly all of them.

I will be crushed if they don't use Bratja for the new anime! Such a wonderful piece.

I expect L'arc~en~ciel to add another song. "Kesenai Tsumi (Inerasable Sin)", "Undo", and "Rewrite" all had to do with the overall theme of the series, so maybe a few more songs like that thrown in?

An ending song by BoA...hmm, I wonder if that would work. I wouldn't oppose it; BoA's a great singer, but I dunno...

(Korean singers ftw.)

Maybe they'll do what Negima! did. For the first and second season, they had multiple versions of the theme song. And the new OVA had a new version of season one's op. So, maybe there will be a new version of it?
...
Sung by Romi Paku maybe? I dunno.

I know a lot of Americans that neither know or care about him either. He's waaay to in-love with his Ed character.

Whomever did the music in Final Fantasy: Advent Children might be good.
