I'm surprised no one's said this one yet:

Prayer of the Refugee by Rise Against.

Well, I guess it's sadder if you see the video.

"Shamandalie" by Sonata Arctica, because I even have my own reasons attached to the song.

Also;

"You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban
"Bratja" from FMA
"One by One" by Enya
"Yesterday" by The Beatles
"Written in the Stars" by Elton John and Leanne Rimes

I agree with some of your choices.

- My Immortal (Evanescence)
- Helena (My Chemical Romance)
- The Ghost of You (MCR)
- Bratja/Brothers (Michiru Ooshima - composer)
- Hurt (Christina Aguilera)
- Slipped Away (Avril Lavigne)
- Because of You (Kelly Clarkson)
- Iris (Goo Goo Dolls)
- A Rising Tide [acoustic version; the original one is not as sad] (Shuntaro Okino)
- Calling You (Shuntaro Okino)
- My Dear Feather (Yuki Kajiura feat. Eri Itou)
- Parting (Michiru Ooshima)
- Etude in E Major, Op. 10, No. 3 (Frédéric Chopin; this piece inspired Tune of Separation by Michiru Ooshima, which is no less tear-jerking especially when it's played during those crucial scenes)
- Saya's Love (Mark Mancina)

I'm sure I have more - both lyrical and instrumental, but that's all I can remember right now.

'Behind Blue Eyes' by the Who (not Limp Bizkit) is a really emotiona song - though towards the end its more angry than sad. And Kansas's 'Dust in the Wind', hands down.

Ah, one of the songs I knew I forgot. When I hear it, sometimes I just want to lie down and stare at nothing, or clutch a pillow or a handkerchief or anything similar.

I agree with a lot of your guys' choices; those songs are pretty sad.

What songs I think are perhaps the saddest? Lessee...'der Weg ist aus das Ziel (the Way is also the Goal)' - Peter Maffay (between the verses of the song, it tells the story of a dragon searching for his son, but is killed before he finds him. Very sad, entirely in German, though ^^; )

Another one is 'Wenn eine Hoffnung Stirbt (when a Hope dies)' - Peter Maffay, which speaks of a young dragon's lover (a princess born from ice) who has frozen completely, leaving him alone and cold.

Next one is 'It's Not Easy (Superman)' - Five For Fighting. Heh, yeah, I think that one's sad, nice tune, but the lyrics make me sniffle somewhat.

Fourth and fifth is 'No One Would Listen' - from the Phantom of the Opera movie, and 'Through the Barricades' - Spandau Ballet.

And the grand finale is...'Say Goodbye to it All' - Chris de Burgh!
