I've been having this issue for a bit. since I've been a member for a while I can't remember if I posted in certain forums. it be easy to figure out if not that some of them are over 20 pages long ._________. so is there an easier way to tell where you've posted? other than going from page to page trying to find a date that fits and going down til the more recent page?

Unrelated though, I just realized my statue is an actual alchemist now. Sweet smile.gif

This appears next to threads you've posted in, note the mark in the bottom right corner. It's not there if you haven't posted in the thread yet. The colour of the thingy doesn't matter.

OK, I am by my own admission new to all this, so I am allowed a certain number of stupid questions, right? And I did try to answer the question myself by searching the new member info but if it was there I couldn't find it!

What the heck does it mean when a thread is pinned!?

(ahem) thank you.

@fullmetalfemme - That's a good question, IMO! smile.gif

"Pinned" threads are the threads staying "pinned" on top part of page one in the forum.
(Imagine memo notes being pinned/thumbtacked on the memo board.. biggrin.gif )

For example, this is the screen-cap of page 1 of General Manga Forum.
Attached File  Pinned2.JPG ( 77.99K ) Number of downloads: 30

You see 4 pinned threads at the top part of the page 1 of the forum page, Favorite Manga Character, Favorite Manga, Readmanga.com Visitors, Read This!, and Manga Thread Directory, separated from "regular" threads down below. (Also, the Pinned thread has an upright arrow mark on the left.)

These threads stay in that "pinned threads box" and do not get mixed with the forum's other "regular" threads. And, even when there aren't any response posts for a while, they don't "sink" to page 2, 3, 4... of the forum.

Often, Pinned threads are used for some important announcements for that forum, or useful information that are relevant for that particular forum, or most popular thread, and such. smile.gif

Hope that helps? biggrin.gif

Thanks Tombow! You are always such a font of useful information! I considered just messaging you about that one, but then I realized there may actually be other clueless people out there besides me at some point! rolleyes.gif

Hey, d'ya like my new siggie? Nil-Chan did it for me -- and sent it to me on Mother's day without even realizing it! I'm so happy with it. The talent and creativity on this board just amazes me -- I've been reading some fanfic by IttyBittyPretty - she is really a gifted writer!

This board, as the young ones say, rules!!

@fullmetalfemme - Yap, I agree!! I think every Q & A we put out here it has the potential of helping others who read it and learn from it as well. smile.gif

And, I noticed your awesome sig as soon as you started having it.
It's so lovely, and fitting you!! happy.gif

We have amazingly talented sig artists on our board, and Nil-Chan is one of the finest examples!! And, they generously provide their services. I am so grateful that we have those talented and wonderful artists with us!! And, yes, I think IttyBittyPretty is one of the finest examples of many of our talented writers on our board! I'm so glad you discovered them!! Enjoy!! biggrin.gif

In My Controls , there is a Recent Attachments section , and it shows the recent things that I've uploaded , there is a message next to them saying :

Number of downloads: 13
Number of downloads: 17

what does that mean ?
Does it show the number of times its been saved on other computers by other members ?

@Amol - Yes. First, click on the thumbnail to get the larger pic, then right click the mouse on the pic, then pick the menu of Save Image As... (or something similar to that, depending on the software the person is using) and name the file, and click Save, and it would be saved on that person's computer. smile.gif

Oh , well thats not what I wanted to know !
I know how to save a image but , I wanted to know , if we can know that others have saved the images that we posted or not ?

Say I post an image , so if others save it on their computers do I get to know that through some means or not ?

@Amol - No, I don't think so. We can only count how many times the pic has been viewed (in case of Attachments) but not how many times it has been saved on people's computer.

(If you don't want to have the pic saved on other people's computer, you can embed the pic with certain kind of watermark, and when the pic was saved the watermark shows up on the saved pic, and this makes the pic looking ugly and obvious that it has been saved by right clicking the mouse.) .. Or, don't post the pic you don't want to be downloaded, and post only the ones you don't mind getting downloaded, I guess. biggrin.gif

I need some help please! Ok, I am still having trouble putting pictures into my signature. I tried what the FAQ said. My pictures are saved to my computer and I went to imageshack to get the URL of the picture. When I go to paste the URL in my signature, it comes out like this: [image]http://img242.imageshack.us/my.php?image=edpixelwx4.gif[/image].

And it doesn't show the picture. Why won't the picture show and what am I doing wrong?

-thanks-
