Walking through alleys, Lyra and Rose enter an abandoned church. An underground passage opens up, and they walk through a series of caverns before reaching a mansion.

Inside, Sloth and Wrath scold Lust for disobeying their master while Gluttony stands silently by. Upon her entrance, the Homunculus bow at the sight of Lyra...

Back in Resembool, Al reveals that King Bradley is a Homunculus and that they are controlling the country in order to obtain the Philosopher's Stone. Ed also tells Mustang and Armstrong that the Fuhrer's secretary is a Homunculus.

On their way back into town, Hawkeye notices the absence of Ed's watch. Al, in his panic, blurts out that there were red stones inside his watch. More and more of Archer's doings are coming to light.

In addition, Ed finds that Mustang did in fact know a great deal about the Philosopher's Stone but declined to tell Ed and Al. Ed, embittered by Mustang's withholding of information, grabs Mustang. Al tries to stop Ed but is flung into the river by a transmutation reaction. The Philosopher's Stone has allowed his blood seal to remain intact.

Back in town, Ed is stunned and furious that his father has the face to return after so many years. That night, Ed's father is shocked to hear of Dante's name.

Later on, Ed's father speaks with Mustang regarding the Homunculus. The Red Stones are the only ingredient the Homunculus need to gain unique abilities and maintain a physical form. Al joins the conversation; his father tells Al and Mustang that Homunculus cannot use alchemy because they came from the other side of the gate.

Deciding to spend the night with the father he never had, Al and his father discuss the power of the Stone and the possibilities that lie within.By morning, Ed and Al's father has left once again, and the search party has arrived.

While hiding the the basement, Ed and Al make a crucial connection. Both the war in Ishbal and the war in Lior were about the Philosopher's Stone. Backed into a corner, someone would be pushed to create the Stone.

In the Homunculus stronghold, Light Hohenheim has come to confront Dante.

In Resembool, Ed has done something unforgivable. He has taken something from the grave of his mother...
