The boy who has the right arm and left leg that Edward Elric lost reveals the truth. The result of human transmutation is the creation a homonculus. Now, the boy desires to be human and in order to do so, attacks Edward in an attempt to take the rest of his body.

Al charges the child only to have Izumi interfere. As she clutches the child in her arms, he takes advantage of her disposition and flings her aside.
During the battle, Al also reveals the child's secret. By making a circle with his right arm and left leg, he is able to conduct transmutations. In addition, he is capable of transforming his body because he is a Homunculus. His final conclusion is that alchemy is made possible only because he possess Ed's limbs.
Enfuriated, Ed charges the child, and they begin to fight. Although evenly matched, Ed gains the upper hand but is unable to break the phycologial barrier keeping him from his goal.
Elsewhere on the island, Envy and Sloth witness Izumi's power. Izumi has created a crevace separating Ed and Al from the child allowing him to escape. Ed and Al give chase only to find the Fuhrer and his secretary on the island.
The child's name is Wrath. And now, the seven sins are all present.
At the refugee camp, Scar questions a man regarding the information he gave Scar's brother. However, he is interrupted by two boys who inform Scar that Scar's master is confronting the military. They have come in search of Scar.
Suddenly, the informant who triggered military action is killed by Gluttony. Frightened by the thought that the refugees might possess weapons, the soldiers panic and begin to shoot into the crowd.
Inciting further unrest, Gluttony and Lust succeed in motivating the refugees to fight back, pelting the soldiers with stones. In order to stop this senseless bloodshed, Mustang steps forward.
Back at the butcher shop, Izumi dispells Ed and Al as her students. Accepting of the consequences, Ed and Al leave with Winry. However, her husband tells Ed and Al that because they are no longer her students, they can create an equal relationship the next time they meet.
Motivated by his words, Ed and Al head back to Izumi and beg for an answer to their quest.
Back at regional headquarters, Archer and Armstrong speculate as to the motive of the Elric brothers. In the forest, Greed's henchmen head towards the Devil's Nest while Greed himself goes off suddenly.
In the morning, Ed and Al are sent to Dante to pick up medicine for Izumi. At Dante's mansion, the two are shocked to find Laila Dante's apprentice.
While Ed and Al meet with Dante, Greed watches perched atop a tree. The brothers ask about the Philosopher's Stone, but they are told by Dante that all those who quest for it only find unhappiness.
Separated for a moment, Ed is attacked by Greed and Kimbeley while Al, Laila, and Dante are approached by the rest of Greed's gang. A confrontation is certain.
