While the battle between Ed and Number 48, Al is attacked outside by Number 66. Upon discovering that Number 48's secret, Number 48 reintroduces himself as the Slicer who was executed two years ago. As the battle rages on, Ed begins feel something weird in his shoulder. The lighter auto-mail is not as durable as his old one.

While Ed is having trouble with Slicer, Number 66 seems to pose little challenge for Al. When Number 66 loses his helmet, he also reintroduces himself as the former Barry the Chopper.

After an intense fight, Ed manages to decapitate Slicer rendering his body immobile. However, Ed is in for a surprise. Slicer's body can still move for there is more than one soul attached to the suit of armor. Fatigued, Ed nearly loses his life before he remembers his goal. With the last of his strength, he splits the body of armor in two and claims victory.

In defeat, the two brothers ask for death, but Ed replies that he cannot destroy them for they are human. If he admits that they are not human, then it would mean Al is not human either.

Upon learning that Ed was Al's brother, Barry capitalizes on the situation and casts doubt into the mind of Al. His comments cause Al to question his past and his relationship with his brother. Coupled with the gaps in his memory, Al begins to doubt his existence.

With the possibility that his personality and memories were merely implanted into him, Al goes into denial.

Back in the lab, the brothers are amazed that for once in their lives, they were recognized as being human. Throughout their entire lives, they were looked at in contempt, but after that had all been thrown away, they are treated like humans.

Outside, Al suddenly remember and wonder what Ed wanted to ask that night in Rizenbul.
